The AKB formed in 2017 to bring a unique and improvisational sound to the Southeast. Described by the the Free Times as "Perfect for summer listening, Jimmy Buffett-style, with appropriate beverage in hand," the AKB brings an uncommon joy to the stage. The band's music blends influences of 90's alternative and jam artists as well as jazz, tropical rock, reggae and folk music in a genre-defying sound most often described as different, fresh, and new.
Adam Kiraly, lead vocalist, is the classically-trained driving force of the band, an inspired singer/songwriter who also plays acoustic guitar and light percussion. His island-flavored vocals and commitment to providing unusual and sophisticated melodic blends shine through in all of the band's grooves. When not creating, playing, recording, and mixing music, Adam is hard at work loving his wife and telling funny stories about his black mouth cur.
Charlie Hampton is a top notch jazz artist who brings a smoking hot improv saxophone to the stage. From a gifted musical family, Charlie adopted his uncles's stage name and tenor sax. He also plays alto and soprano sax as well as piano and flute. When not bringing the liquid sound the AKB is known for, Charlie can be found spending time with his spiritual family as a church elder, and doting on his three children.
Jeremy Blake was born and raised in Fountain Inn, SC. He loves football, cantaloupe and music. He studied music at Brevard College and has played with many projects in the WNC area. He is delighted to be with the AKB, and we are delighted to have a bass player with a full beard…..and the skills to add a unique melodic thickness to our sound. When not playing with the AKB, Jeremy can be found enjoying his new bride and practicing the luthier trade.
Together, the band creates a colorful soundscape journey full of richness and texture. But don't take our word for it, listen for yourself.
